FAMILY LAW
Families coming together and breaking apart is extremely difficult both physically and emotionally. BSL handles cases with compassion and the goal of addressing the present needs and future well-being of everyone, specifically children, involved. BSL will see to the following types of legal needs: Divorce/Dissolution of Marriage, Child Custody/Support, Spousal Support and Alimony, Property Division, Asset Dissolutions, Visitation and Parenting Arrangements​, Paternity​, Farm Divorce and Dissolution, ​Prenuptial Agreements​, Domestic Abuse​​ and Adoption.
WILLS & ESTATE PLANNING
Bri Sorensen, Attorney at Law, offers estate planning and business succession counseling, living trusts, probate avoidance when appropriate, including preparation of wills, trusts and family limited partnerships. Legal plans are determined for each individual cases' needs. BSL serves clients in Shenandoah, Clarinda, Red Oak, surrounding communities and throughout Iowa. Out-of-state or -area cases are considered on an individual basis.
REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS
Real estate practices at Bri Sorensen Law cover a wide range of transactions from abstracts to zoning. BSL provides counsel to clients in the acquisition and sale of property and related issues such as environmental law. BSL will advise clients in real estate purchase and sales negotiation, drafting and reviewing loan applications and loan documents. The firm also conducts title examinations and drafts development and developer agreements, construction contracts and management and lease agreements.
MUNICIPAL LAW
BSL offers representation of municipalities such as City of Red Oak, City of Riverton, City of Blanchard, City of Thurman and others. Areas BSL regularly advises municipalities include: Capital Projects, Proposals, Public Financing, Planning, Negotiation, Leases and Eminent Domain/Condemnation, Real Estate Acquisition, and Nuisance Property Proceedings. BSL attends public meetings and provides legal counsel and advisement to public officials for official functions and duties.
BSL also provides counsel to community and supporting foundations including formation of nonprofit entities, foundations of public organizations, obtaining tax exempt status or ongoing legal advice to nonprofit boards of directors and executive directors.
